Memory Making

I have had lots of thoughts this week about God's will for my life and making memories. Yes, seemingly unrelated but as it turns out for me, they are totally intertwined.
In our small group, we have talked a good bit about our place in this life and God's will for us and jobs/careers/"calling". I don't have any doubts in my mind or heart that God put me on this world to work with children in some capacity. At the moment, I am blessed with a "job" that I LOVE. I have the opportunity to teach young minds everyday... yes, reading and writing and multiplication and division but also about our Lord and what He means to me and can mean to them.

As a part of our curriculum this last month of school, we went on a field trip. Field trips are a lot of work for teachers in the beginning but then they always turn out to be a lot of fun! This spring field trip was no exception. It began as an adventure (they normally do) but turned into a day of "memory making" and contemplating for me and Baby S.
Here are a few pictures from our field trip... Fishing with our Dads.

Matthew 4:19 says "Come, follow Me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." The next verse is the one that really struck me this week. Matthew 4:20 says, "At once they left their nets and followed Him."

The two disciples that Jesus is talking to in this passage didn't sit around and contemplate or debate... they simply (and oh so profoundly) dropped everything and followed Jesus. Can I say that I have EVER done that?

Which led to this thought... after 3rd grade is over and these kids have graduated from high school then college... will they remember this special time with their dads?

Will they be able to look back and think about becoming fishers of men for God alongside their dads? That is my hope and prayer... not just for these kids but also for my own child.
